September 23, 2021SA Chamber USA Vice-President Magda Odendaal and her husband Nico Odendaal attended the Gala event of the American Cornerstone Institute with Founder, keynote speaker, and former Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Ben Carson at Mount Vernon near Washington DC.
Carson gained national fame among political conservatives after delivering a speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast which was perceived as critical of the policies of President Barack Obama. He has also written many articles in peer-reviewed journals and six bestselling books published by Zondervan, an international Christian media and publishing company. The first book was an autobiography published in 1992. Two others are about his personal philosophies of success and what he sees as the stabilizing influence of religion.
Dr. Ben Carson has also been perceived as a symbol of black conservatism. Black conservatism is a political and social philosophy rooted in communities of African descent that aligns largely with the conservative ideology around the world. Black conservatives emphasize traditionalism, patriotism, self-sufficiency, and strong cultural and social conservatism within the context of the black church.
SA Chamber USA Vice-President Magda Odendaal had the honor to talk with Dr. Ben Carson at the American Cornerstone Institute in Washington DC. Dr. Benjamin Carson Sr. is an American retired neurosurgeon and politician who served as the 17th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 2017 to 2021. He was a candidate for President of the United States.
