May 10, 2022SA Chamber USA showcased one of our great South African Cultural Ambassadors in the USA, DR Bishop Jessica Mbangeni. We are proud of our rich cultural diversity and Jessica Mbangeni represents everything that is South Africa. The chamber encourages South Africans in the USA to share our culture and be proudly South African where ever you are. #sachamberusa #proudlysouthafrican #culturaldeplomacy
President of SA Chamber USA met with the Consul General of South Africa in New York HE, Dr. Motumisi Tawana. The consulate is well managed and serves the South African diaspora with excellence. This is a small team compared to the big task they have at hand. I was impressed with the great initiatives from the Consul General especially around the focus on Cultural Diplomacy as a catalyst to propel trade, investment, and tourism. South Africa is well represented in New York. The South African Chamber of Commerce USA is looking forward to working with CG Tawana to promote South Africa in the USA. #sachamberusa
SA Chamber USA also visited the Cultural Centre established by the Consul General of South Africa HE, Dr. Motumisi Tawana. This cultural center is designed to share South African culture and promote Cultural Diplomacy with the people of the USA. The Consul General is currently showcasing an exhibition of original photos signed by the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
It is a great depiction of the real Archbishop like he is rarely seen. One of the photos is of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, enjoying his favorite Chocolate Milkshake at Food Lovers Market – one of his very few weaknesses. There are also photos of the Archbishop with the Dali Lama and Nelson Mandela. This is a great initiative that has the potential to be of cultural significance for many more South African communities in the USA such as Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Through a partnership with the South African Chamber of Commerce USA, the SA Consulate in NY, and the Cultural Centre we will take the exhibition to more locations in the USA to share your culture. #sachamberusa
