May 19, 2023SA Chamber USA supported the Shared Interest event “Investing in South Africa” as part of the VOICES OF CHANGE: Empowering the Next Generation of Black Entrepreneurs in the US & Southern Africa Reception at The Carter Center. This was part of Shared Interest’s 30th Anniversary "Voices of Change Campaign" to raise awareness and resources for the critical role that black women entrepreneurs and other small and medium-sized enterprises play in advancing the fight for racial, gender and economic justice in the US and Southern Africa. The event highlighted the key focus of Shared Interest’s work to partner with HBCUs and empower the next generation of young black leaders to be global entrepreneurs and social impact leaders. H.E Ambassador Andrew Young, Jr. Diplomat, Global Civil Rights Activist and Former Mayor, delivered the keynote address as a powerful global voice of change who committed himself to inspiring the next generation of visionary leaders to advance economic development, poverty alleviation and food insecurity. Additional speakers included Felicia Mabuza-Suttle, the globally respected South African media expert and entrepreneur, who serves on the Board of Advisors; Reverend Naomi Tutu, (Episcopal Clergy and Race and Gender Activist and Daughter of the late Emeritus Archbishop Desmond Tutu), who also serves on the Board; and Senator Sonia Halpern, Georgia State Senator.
