SACCUSA A Bridge for the Diaspora
Navigating life away from home comes with unique challenges, but you are not alone. As South Africans in the USA, you can find support and assistance from the South African Embassy and Consulates, as well as the South African Chamber of Commerce USA (SACCUSA).
The Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Washington, D.C., along with the South African consulates in Los Angeles and New York, offer various consular services to the South African diaspora. These services range from issuing passports, providing travel advice, assisting with legal documentation, and offering support during emergencies for travel.
The Embassy
The Embassy and Consulates consular services include:
- Passport and Identity Documents: Apply for new or renewal of South African passports and ID documents.
- Birth Certificates: Registration of births for children of South African citizens born abroad.
- Legalization of Documents: Certification of documents such as marriage certificates, educational degrees, and powers of attorney for use in South Africa.
- Consular Notarial Services: Notarial services for various documents including affidavits, certifications, and more.
- Citizenship: Advice and guidance on South African dual citizenship requirements and processes.

While the Embassy and Consulates directly provide these services, SACCUSA also plays an instrumental role in supporting the diaspora in accessing these services and understanding the processes involved.
At SACCUSA, our role is to act as a bridge connecting the South African diaspora with the Embassy and Consulates. We help facilitate the flow of information, making it easier for our community to access the services they need. We provide regular updates about changes in consular services, application procedures, and important announcements from the Embassy and Consulates.
In addition, we hold events and informational sessions that often feature representatives from the Embassy or Consulates, providing a platform for South Africans in the USA to connect directly with officials and raise any concerns or queries they may have.
