Washington, D.C. – 17 February 2025 – Magda Odendaal, Vice-President of the South African Chamber of Commerce in the USA (SACCUSA), briefed members on the importance of maintaining bi-national trade between South Africa and the United States.
Ms Magda Odendaal emphasized concerns from SACCUSA and the South African business community in the U.S. over the deteriorating relationship between the two nations and the potential economic impact of strained diplomatic ties. In response to President Trump’s Executive Order, SACCUSA has urged the South African government to send a high-level delegation, including business representatives, to engage directly with the Trump Administration and find a resolution.
“Sustaining U.S. business engagement in South Africa is critical for job creation and economic growth. We call on both governments to work together to maintain strong trade and investment ties,” said Ms Odendaal.
SACCUSA remains committed to advocating for stronger economic cooperation and will continue working with stakeholders to preserve and grow the trade relationship between South Africa and the U.S.
