August 12, 2021SAFFAS Braai in Austin Texas
Louis Cloete and Braai Tribe hosted their First Saturday Bring & Braai. The idea behind this SAFFAS Braai in Austin was to create a monthly meetup for Southern Africans and friends. Yes, those of us who love to braai. And in doing so, share their beautiful South African culture.
They would like to host First Saturday Br&Br at a different venue every month to meet fellow braai enthusiasts from North, South, East, and West of the greater Austin area. Also even further afield for anyone that wants to come and join.
Their previous event was such a success that Louis decided to keep this month’s event at the same venue. Lakeway City Park is 64 acres of waterfront parkland. The park is located at 502 Hurst Creek Road. It can also be reached by water from Hurst Creek Cove on Lake Travis. There are many things to do at City Park. With nearly two miles of trails, there is plenty of room for everyone from leisurely walkers to vigorous joggers. As well as kids on bicycles or rollerblades.
After the Springboks won against the British and Irish Lions, the Braai Tribe team ignited their fires. SAFFAS from Austin started arriving for the big braai. Vinnie the Braai Guy added his own recipe to celebrate the glorious defeat of the Lions. He suggested Tendervac Rump and chicken fillets with a Devil’s fork of Halloumi Cheese. Although everyone ate later than expected, everyone was in good spirits after such an intense rugby match.
SAFFAS Braai in September 2021
There are two opportunities to braai in Austin in September 2021. The first opportunity is certainly 4 September 2021. The SAFFAS First Saturday Bring & Braai hosted by Louis Cloete and Braai Tribe will be held at the Elizabeth M Milburn Community Park. You can follow the festivities on Facebook.
The next braai event is on 25 September 2021 at Sterling Events Austin Texas. This time they combined the First Annual South African Bazaar with the SAFFAS Braai in Austin, Texas.
