SACCUSA President Neil Diamond joined Ambassador Dr Chibamba Kanyama of the Republic of Zambia and an esteemed panel of bi-national trade experts

This week, SACCUSA President Neil Diamond joined Ambassador Dr Chibamba Kanyama of the Republic of Zambia and an esteemed panel of bi-national trade experts in Atlanta, GA to highlight Zambia’s role as a key partner for U.S. trade and investment in Southern Africa.

The discussion showcased how Zambia, at the heart of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), is positioning itself as a regional hub for innovation, industry, and sustainable growth. Opportunities are rapidly expanding in:

Energy – Hydropower, solar, and renewable energy infrastructure to power inclusive development.
Agriculture – Agri-processing, logistics, and technology partnerships to strengthen food security and expand exports.

Mining – Copper and cobalt driving global demand for critical minerals essential to clean energy, with potential for beneficiation and manufacturing.

Manufacturing – Special Economic Zones and industrialisation strategies opening pathways for value-added production and exports across Africa.
Atlanta provided the perfect setting for this dialogue, reflecting the city’s strong African diaspora, its growing role as a hub for global commerce, and its ability to connect U.S. investors with Africa’s rapidly evolving economies.

SACCUSA is proud to bridge opportunities between Southern Africa and the United States, ensuring that partnerships in Zambia and beyond deliver both commercial impact and shared prosperity.

Special thanks to Ambassador Kanyama, Honorary Consul Anna Katema, and our fellow panelists for spotlighting Zambia’s investment potential and the opportunities AfCFTA offers to strengthen U.S.–Africa ties. Live Ubuntu.
